Cadillac Escalade Sway Bar

Ride comfort, vehicle stability and handling quality are all made possible by the suspension system. The suspension system minimizes vibrations and stabilizes inertia to make the vehicle comfortable, stable and responsive to the control of the driver. Without the suspension system, the vehicle would be reduced into a shaking contraption. The automobile would be more appropriate as a torture chamber than a mode of transport. The vehicle would be very unstable that it will not be able to optimize its speed and traverse different types of land topography. The suspension system compensates for many types of vibrations that the vehicle encounters.

One suspension problem is maintaining vehicular stability when making a sharp turn. When the vehicle is making a sharp turn, especially when driving at high speed, there is the tendency of the vehicle to roll over due to centrifugal force. On the other hand, the passengers will tend to be pushed on the side, away from the center of the turn. This tendency of the vehicle is dangerous and can potentially injure or even kill the people inside the vehicle. However, the suspension system has a component that counteracts this natural tendency of the vehicle. This suspension component is called the sway bar. A sway bar such as the Cadillac Escalade sway bar is located under the chassis of the vehicle.

A sway bar is also known as anti-roll bar, stabilizer bar, roll bar, or anti-sway bar. It is part of the automobile suspension system that connects the opposite wheels (i.e., the left and right wheels) via short lever arms that are linked by a torsion spring. As the name suggests, the sway bar compensates for the sway or roll of the vehicle during sharps turns. This is achieved by increasing the roll stiffness of the suspension. Purchasing an aftermarket sway bar is convenient and simple. All it may take is just a few clicks of the mouse buttons.
